The Last Post was used primarily within British and Australian Infantry regiments for military burials and Commonwealth ceremonies. The song is used to commemorate those who lost their lives in war. Originally the song was used to signal when the last sentry post was inspected, and that camp was secured for the night.
Another use for the song was to close the day of battle, signaling those still outside the battlefield to follow the sound of the call and return to safety and rest. Today, the Last Post is used in Remembrance Day ceremonies in Commonwealth countries. The first use for this is an implied calling of the spirits of the Fallen to the cenotaph, while the second is used symbolically to end the day.
The second use was coupled with a period of silence before the “Rouse” was blown. It has become a ritual night vigil for the mourners. Download Last Post videos, you can try to use VideoPower YELLOW or ZEUS as downloading tools.
