The Nutcracker is a Russian two-act ballet. Created in 1892, Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov choreographed the original performance using Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s musical score. The song was brought to the stage of the opera where the story was adapted from the story of E.T.A. Hoffmann, “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King”.
The ballet performance was popularized in the late 1960s, but today it is performed by countless ballet companies. Today, the good dance is being conducted this holiday season for festivals.
The story is about a girl whose toys she got last Christmas comes to life. She watches her dolls fight it out in a group led by the nutcracker. The girl found out about the nutcracker who was a man cursed by Mouse King to be a toy. Soon he defeated Mouse King and his curse was lifted. In the ballet version a romance blossoms between nutcracker and girl, and at the end of the fight they dance together.
